Belmont Academy, founded in 1973, is a non-profit child care center in the heart of southeast Portland. We are dedicated to providing a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment where children can explore and learn about the world around them. All children are actively involved in the excitement of learning.
Programs and Enrollment
We offer year round programs for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years in our Infant, Wobbler, Toddler, Jr. Preschool, Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classes. We offer After School care and a Summer Camp Program for school-age children up to 12 years.
Goals and Objective
Belmont Academy is dedicated to providing a welcoming, nurturing, safe, supportive environment, where children can explore, learn, and thrive with warmth and respect and without discrimination on the basis of sex, race, creed, ability, religion, national origin, or ancestry.
With each child, we strive to reach specific goals in three areas of development: social-emotional growth, cognitive growth, and physical growth.
Social-emotional goals for our children include experiencing a sense of self-esteem, exhibiting a positive attitude toward life, demonstrating cooperative pro-social behavior, and gaining independence.
Cognitively, we hope our children acquire problem-solving skills, expand logical thinking skills, demonstrate skills in make-believe play, and develop verbal, and beginning writing and reading skills.
Physically, we aim for children to enhance their gross motor skills, refine fine motor skills, and learn to use all five senses in learning.
