Dance with The Portland Ballet
The Portland Ballet, a world-class dance academy, trains students ages 3-22 in a professional curriculum guided by resident teachers and guest masters with expertise in both the classical and contemporary repertoire. With its nurturing, student-centered training, TPB welcomes all identities and helps to build confidence, maturity, and discipline. Graduates have carried TPB’s reputation for excellence into major professional companies and conservatory programs throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Performance opportunities for all ages include dancing in annual shows Thanksgiving weekend and in the spring.
PROGRAMS
-Curriculum (ages 6-18): Classes September-June provide dancers with a strong technical foundation as they progress from beginning Level 1 to advanced Level 8.
-Creative Ballet (ages 3-6): Little ones explore dance in a fun, guided way that is safe and non-competitive while they develop motor skills, strength, balance, and flexibility.
-Free Classes (ages 6-9): A commitment-free three-class series, offered twice a year in September and January, is a great way for children to see whether ballet is right for them.
-Men’s Program (ages 6-22): Taught by men for men, classes focus on the needs and skills specific to young male dancers, who develop strength, poise, and discipline.
-Career Track (ages 14-22): This intense and personal learning environment offers well-trained, advanced dancers with professional intent a setting that simulates a professional company experience.
-Summer Programs: A variety of programs for ages 6-18 keep dancers in shape while they develop new skills.
