DESCRIPTION:Every week at FLIP\, we focus on a different culture\, community\, or holiday. This week\, we are celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Come listen to stories about Indigenous Culture today. Then make an ocean scene craft.\n\n\nWhy the ocean? The ocean is very important to indigenous tribes in Oregon because it has provided them and their ancestors with food for generations. Oceans and rivers also appear in many traditional stories that are passed down over time. These waters help people feel connected to their history\, culture\, and the ancestors who came before them.\n\n\nWe celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day to honor and recognize the Native tribes who have lived on this land long before the arrival of Columbus. In Oregon\, Indigenous peoples have inhabited the region for 23\,000 to 25\,000 years. Today\, each tribe continues to preserve and celebrate its unique culture\, heritage\, and ancestral traditions.\n\n \n\n\nTribes who call this land home include: Atfalati\, Kalapuya\, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians\, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde\, Cayuse\, Umatilla\, and Walla Walla.\n\n\n$8/person\, under 2 free
