DESCRIPTION:Iris Levine leads a 70 voice women’s chorus in a timely and inspiring concert featuring Andrea Ramsey’s multi-media Suffrage Cantata for chorus\, chamber orchestra and narrator. It is an urgent exploration of America’s women’s suffrage movement\, told from the personal histories of diverse women.  Singer and actor Simone Ledward Boseman is guest narrator.\n\n\nThe composer writes\, “Some of the most revered figures in the U.S. Women’s Suffrage Movement have been romanticized in ways that omit massive flaws of judgment… I have tried to craft a work that is honest about the heroism of these figures while also acknowledging their flaws.” The dynamic program is rounded out with choral music by Pablo Casals\, Emily Drum\, Rosephanye Powell and more.\n\n\nEditor’s note: This event is a community submission.
