SUMMARY:Kodomo no Hi\, Children’s Day
DESCRIPTION:Kodomo no Hi\, also called Children’s Day\, is commemorated each year in Japan on May 5th to celebrate the growth and good fortune of children. This festival will feature a range of family-friendly activities! Listen to taiko performances\, learn origami\, and enjoy displays of koinobori\, or cloth carp streamers.\n\n\nChildren’s Day Program\nAll day: Koinobori displays in the Cathy Rudd Cultural Corner and Tateuchi Courtyard. Curious about Koi video viewings in the Family Studio\n\n\n10:00 am – 2:30 pm: Origami workshop taught by Yuki Martin in the Yanai Family Classroom. Martin is the author of Super Cute Origami Kit: Kawaii Paper Projects You Can Decorate in Thousands of Ways!\n\n \n\n\n10:30 am – 2:30 pm: Koi experts\, Linda Montgomery and Danielle Cheney\, will answer questions about koi by the Zig-Zag Bridge next to Heavenly Falls in the Strolling Pond Garden.\n\n\n10:30 am – 2:30 pm:  Explore the garden using the Scavenger Hunt map created in partnership with local artist and public joy creator\, Mike Bennett. Copies can be picked up in the Tateuchi Courtyard. This activity goes through various garden locations.
