SUMMARY:Oktoberfest at Oaks Park
DESCRIPTION:Dashing dachshunds\, endless sausages\, polka\, pilsner\, pretzels and more will take over Oaks Park Sept. 25-27 during the park’s ever-popular Oktoberfest. The three-day\, family-friendly celebration of autumn will be packed with traditional food and beverages\, authentic music and dancing and an array of Oktoberfest activities for revelers of all ages.\n\n\n“Over the years\, Oaks Park’s Oktoberfest has grown into one of our most popular celebrations of the year\,” said Emily MacKay\, Oaks Park’s Marketing and Events Director. “From great food and drinks to live music\, Bavarian cooking shows\, wiener dog races and even a pretzel toss contest\, we have something for everyone.”\n\n\nOaks Park has been hosting its Oktoberfest since the early 1990s. This year’s festival will feature all the favorites that have made the festival at Oaks Park so popular\, including:\n\n \n\n\n\nFood and drink: A range of imported Paulaner beers will be available along with craft ciders and wines. Food vendors include Schnitzel Haus\, Brat Barn\, Wienerwurst\, Eis Hutte\, the Buffalo Gap and others.\nActivities: The three-day fest will feature an all-ages dance floor\, Bavarian cooking shows\, wiener dog races\, a pretzel toss\, a condiment art contest\, a vendor village\, a Chicken Dance contest and more. There will also be the kid-friendly Kinderplatz on Saturday and Sunday\, where kids can find fun arts\, crafts and music.\nMusic: It’s not Oktoberfest without great polka\, and Oaks Park has a full lineup\, from The Polkatones and The Tirolean Dancers to The Alpine Echoes and accordionist Elizabeth Wisler.\n\nIn addition to all the Oktoberfest fun\, Oaks Park will have its rides\, games and other attractions running at full speed. Gate-only admission for Oktoberfest is $7.50 for those 48” and taller and $4.50 for those under 48”. Gate admission with a Ride Bracelet is $44.45 for guests 48” and taller and $23.45 for anyone under 48”. Infants 2 and under are free.\n\n\nOaks Park’s classic roller-skating rink and mini golf course will also be available for guests for an additional price.\n\n\nHours for Oktoberfest at Oaks Park are: 4 pm to 10 pm Friday\, Sept. 25; 11 am to 10 pm Saturday\, Sept. 26; and 11 am to 7 pm Sunday\, Sept. 27.\n\n\nVideo highlights of last year’s Oktoberfest can be seen here.
