This free event kicks off Plant Science Week in Portland, declared by Mayor Ted Wheeler ahead of Plant Biology 2022, the joint meeting of the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) and the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists (CSPB).

Planned activities for Plant Science Saturday attendees include:

• A seed necklace creation station
• A station for attendees to practice dissecting lima beans to discover the building blocks of plant behavior
• A vibrant art display by the Plant Cell Atlas showcasing historically significant Black figures in plant science
• Education and samples of genetically modified apple and papaya
• Conversations with plant scientists

Onsite amenities include educational materials, promotional items, portable restrooms, and handwashing stations.
