Guests will venture down Candy Cane Lane to find The North Pole Post Office\, where kids can write their letter to Santa and mail it in our Magic Mailbox (with the help of a mischievous elf\, of course!) Kiddos will also get to scan their hand and see if they have been naughty or nice and will get a bracelet showing where they were placed on Santa’s List. Guests also will visit Santa’s reindeer barn and make a delicious treat to sprinkle out for Santa’s trusty flying crew on Christmas Eve\, visit Santa’s Workshop\, where they can make their very own toy to take home\, sit on and take family pictures on Santa’s enormous Sleigh\, and\, of course\, visit Santa himself at Santa’s Cottage! Families are welcomed (and encouraged!) to take photos through the entire experience! \nActivities include: \n\nCraft reindeer food at the Reindeer Barn to take-home and sprinkle for Santa’s furry helpers on Christmas Eve!\nBuild a toy at Santa’s Wood Shop that you take home!\nTake a seat in Santa’s Sleigh at Santa’s Sleigh Garage and get some fun photos to share and maybe (for the littles) check out our gingerbread playhouse!\nVisit Santa’s Cottage for beautiful family photos with the big guy himself!\nEnjoy hot chocolate and cookies from Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen!\nVisit Bauble’s Christmas Boutique for some fun books\, toys\, sweets and more!\n\nCost: Weekday and weekend pricing starting at $30 per visitor in November for weekdays and $35 on weekends and $35 per visitor in December on weekdays and $40 per visitor on weekends and the 3 days leading up to Christmas. We are located at NW 26th and Wilson st in downtown Portland and feature classic department store displays\, photos with Santa on the weekends and Christmas decor retail\, fresh cut Christmas Trees\, Garland and Wreaths.\n\nThis year we are also proud to be partnering with Pioneer Place to display some more of our Meyer&Frank Collection and a Sleigh from the Festival of Trees in one of the mall’s corner windows @PioneerPlace\n\nSanta Land is free to visit\, Photos with Santa are $20\, other retail items are available as well.  Fresh trees arrive the Friday before Thanksgiving.\n\nWe are open 9a-7p Friday Saturday and Sunday\n11a-7p Mondays and Thursdays \nNovember 1st and stay open till December 23rd

SUMMARY:Sasquatch: Ancestral Guardians
DESCRIPTION:“We must walk lightly when we are between worlds with this sacred being.”  – Phillip Cash Cash \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIndigenous peoples have long been in relationship with and shared stories about sacred forest protectors\, often called Sasquatch and Bigfoot. The works in this exhibition are made by Indigenous artists and honor generations of spiritual practices\, storytelling\, and tradition. Leave your preconceived notions behind and immerse yourself\, not in the question of if Sasquatch exists\, but rather\, how are we existing with and honoring this non-human other. \nThis exhibition will run from May 30\, 2025\, to January 4\, 2026\, at the Discovery Museum. \nCurated to align with the mission of World Forestry Center\, this exhibition was created in collaboration with these Indigenous artists and the High Desert Museum in Bend\, Oregon\, which featured the exhibition Sensing Sasquatch in 2024. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe exhibition is advised by and consists of original artwork by:  Phillip Cash Cash\, Ph.D. (Nez Perce\, Cayuse)\, HollyAnna CougarTracks DeCoteau Littlebull (Yakama\, Nez Perce\, Cayuse\, Cree)\, Charlene “Tillie” Dimmick (Warm Springs)\, Frank Buffalo Hyde (Nez Perce\, Onondaga) and Rocky LaRock (Salish)\, Greg Archuleta (Grand Ronde). \nLearn more about the exhibit here.

DESCRIPTION:Bird Alliance of Oregon’s Wild Arts Festival Celebrates its 45th year\, at the Wingspan Event Center December 6 & 7\, 2025 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday\, Dec. 6 |10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday\, Dec. 7). \nThe festival is one of the giving season’s biggest holiday shopping events\, featuring unique local artisan works & books\, all celebrating nature. \nThe Wild Arts Festival returns for its 45th year as the Northwest’s premier show and sale of nature-related art and books\, with proceeds benefiting Bird Alliance of Oregon’s education and conservation efforts. \nThis is the second year the Wild Arts Festival is held at the aptly named Wingspan Event Center in Hillsboro.\nThe venue change makes getting to the Festival so easy with the adjacent Max light rail stop and abundant parking. \nRecognized as one of the “top seasonal gift-buying events” in Portland\, the Festival is proud to again highlight some of the region’s best artists and authors. This quintessential winter Portland event supports over 65 local artists and 25 authors in one weekend. Available at the festival are beautiful\, original artisan gifts that also contribute to a great cause: the protection of Oregon’s wildlife and wild places. \nMeet your favorite artists & authors\nArt & books inspire us all\, and one of the highlights of the Wild Arts Festival is the opportunity to meet and talk with the artists and authors. This year\, we will also offer short talks by Festival artists and authors where attendees can learn more about their backgrounds\, process\, and inspirations. Author book signing times will be posted on the website. \nThe Wild Arts Festival showcases 65 artists including painters\, printmakers\, jewelry designers\, and sculptors\, plus glass\, wood\, fiber art\, and ceramic artists. The beautifully diverse artistic media are aligned in their inspiration\, drawing from:\n• Nature or wildlife as a subject\,\n• Natural materials as a medium\, or\n• Art promoting environmental sustainability \nEvery year\, we’re so inspired by the creativity and resourcefulness of our artists to produce wonderful unique pieces\, such as: \n● Shelly Durica-Laiche: sculpture & metal work. In her SE Portland studio\, she designs and builds both functional and decorative metal sculpture\, and her public work has been exhibited at Milwaukie City Hall Sculpture Garden\, Oregon Society of Artists\, Auburn Downtown Sculpture Gallery\, and Happy Valley Sculpture Garden.\n● Wayne Jiang: Wayne Jiang is a Portland-based realist painter and teacher. Born in Guangzhou\, China\, he came to the U.S. at 15. His works have been exhibited in the\nMorris Graves Museum of Art\, Triton Museum\, Crocker Museum\, Lan Su Chinese Garden\, Portland Art Museum Rental Sales Gallery\, and Guardino Gallery.\n● Scott Smorra: Photography. Scott is a new artist to WAF and he uses his camera to explore the natural world with the belief that art and nature have the power to heal. His achievements include winning the Blue Ribbon for Artistic Achievement at Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts (2023)\, Oregon Natural Desert Association photo contest (2023)\, and Oregon Wild Outdoor Photo Contest (2023\, 2011). \nAuthors have dedicated signing times on both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. where attendees can get their purchased books autographed. Books focus on nature\, birds\, hiking\, history\, books for kids\, and topics that illuminate living in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Featured authors include: \n● Rebecca Lexa: The Everyday Naturalist: How to Identify Animals\, Plants and Fungi Wherever You Go. Rather than focusing on one region or continent\, she can help you classify nature anywhere\, providing details on distinguishing features and including more than forty full-color photos and drawings.\n● John Shewey: The Owl Handbook: Investigating the Lives\, Habits\, and Importance of These Enigmatic Birds. John is a professional writer\, photographer\, editor\, and speaker whose work has appeared in dozens of magazines. He is the longtime editor-in-chief of American Fly Fishing magazine\, and rejoices in the outdoors\, enjoys studying wild things.\n● Jeff VanderMeer: Absolution. Jeff is award-winning and New York Times bestselling author\, and his popular\, lush\, and eerie Southern Reach Series includes four titles:\nAnnihilation\, Authority\, Acceptance\, and most recently\, Absolution (2025 paperback). Annihilation won the Nebula Award and Shirley Jackson Award and was\nadapted into a Paramount movie. \nSilent Auction\nAt the event center\, attendees will find an incredible selection of art\, experiences\, and outdoor gear donated to support Bird Alliance of Oregon’s mission. A few of the tempting items: an Arch Cape beach house stay\, fine wine cases\, luxury hotel stays\, a 6-night safari\, spa gift certificates\, art donated by the Festival artists\, and more. \nAttendees will have the benefit of in-person viewing of the items with the convenience of online bidding. They can register and make first bids at the event\, then track the bidding on a computer or phone at home and continue to bid.
