SUMMARY:Period Power Project
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a simple way to give back as a family this spring? Positive Charge! PDX’s Period Power Project offers an easy\, meaningful opportunity for kids and adults to help others in the community. \nFrom April 11 through May 10\, families can pick up period supplies while shopping and donate them at 20+ drop-off locations across the Portland area. A special part of this project is creating simple\, handmade cards of support — a great at-home activity for kids\, classrooms\, or families to spread kindness and encouragement. \nPeriod products are not covered by programs like SNAP and WIC\, leaving many without access to essential supplies. Donations will be assembled into care kits and distributed through local nonprofit partners. \nFamilies are also welcome to attend a community packing event on May 16. \nLearn more:https://www.PositiveChargePDX.org/PeriodPower2026

SUMMARY:Enduring Impressions: Contemporary Woodblock Prints
DESCRIPTION:Step into a world where nature-themed prints meet Portland Japanese Garden’s springtime vibrance in Enduring Impressions: Contemporary Woodblock Prints. Featuring the art of mokuhanga (木版画)\, Japanese-style woodblock printmaking\, this exhibition reveals how a centuries-old tradition is experiencing a contemporary revival as artists around the world use the quiet power and unique characteristics of woodblock printmaking to create captivating works of art. \nMokuhanga has been embraced as an environmentally friendly art form that uses wood\, water-based pigments\, and paper made from plant fibers. The exhibition’s featured artists are among the growing international movement where meticulously crafted art prints incorporating these traditional tools and techniques are complemented by alternative printmaking technologies and strategies for contemporary expression. This exhibition marks the Garden’s first collaboration with the Honolulu Museum of Art and is co-curated by Stephen Salel\, the Museum’s Curator of Japanese Art. Across the galleries at Portland Japanese Garden\, Enduring Impressions presents an eclectic range of contemporary prints\, alongside a behind-the-scenes look at the process\, history and future of this iconic art form. \nEditor’s note: This event is a community submission.

SUMMARY:The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical
DESCRIPTION:⚡️Ancient myth and teen angst collide in this high-voltage rock musical adapted from Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel\, where young people learn that the things that make us different are the things that make us strong. ⚡️ \nDemigod Percy Jackson has always struggled with fitting in. When his single mom must send him where she can’t follow\, he ends up at a summer camp for kids like him – half Greek god\, half mortal. Joined by a daughter of Athena trying to prove her worth and a satyr trying to make up for past tragedies\, the trio journeys into the underworld and back to reclaim Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt and stop a war between the gods. With a whole host of mythological creatures chasing after them\, can these unlikely heroes shoulder the fate of the world? Maybe Percy can finally find a place where he belongs…if he doesn’t die first. This electric coming-of-age story will resonate with anyone who’s had trouble finding the courage to stand strong in a world full of monsters. \nTickets are on sale now for this incredible show\, running April 8-12 and 15-19. Get them now before they’re gone! \nEditor’s note: This event is a community submission.
