Variable Creatives is inspiring the next generation of artists!

Do you have a budding young artist looking to improve their skills and advance their passion for the arts? Is your teen a creative person needing an outlet? Look no further than Variable Creatives Summer Art Camp, a mentorship program for teens (ages 15-18).

We focus on the process not the product and welcome all skill levels. Our camps celebrate individuality and self-expression and are open to anyone looking to enhance their artistic skills, learn from others, and find out more about becoming an artist in the modern world.

Our community art studio is a hub for local artists with $1,800 square feet of studio space and access to an assortment of art mediums to explore. Our skilled instructors are artists and art instructors working in their field of study who can share what it’s like to be a working artist in Portland. Whether you’re creating art for fun or looking to pursue a career in the arts, we have a space for you!

Activities will vary from week to week and include projects from a selection of styles including  illustration, painting, printmaking and ceramics. Participants will have an opportunity to collaborate with other teens, learn from our instructors, and play freely within a variety of mediums. Our camp day consists of a mindfulness art warm-up, daily project instruction, independent work and an end-of-day reflection. Campers can reflect on the projects of the day, discuss challenges and successes, and learn more about the Portland art community and the opportunities available. A representative from Pacific Northwest College of Art will also be on site to talk about their programming during camp.

Art isn’t just about learning techniques, it’s about finding what drives you to create and learning how you can share that creativity with your community. Join us for a fun and engaging summer you won’t forget!

Hours: Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
