About Us

OCAC's Community Programs for youth and adults has been defining craft since 1907. Our artists and instructors serve as mentors to guide artists of all levels and ages through an exploration of art mediums, creative risk-taking and problem solving. By providing programming alongside your school's curriculum, we can partner with families to provide creative skill building. We provide the tools and skills necessary to be a maker.

Beginnings, Grades PreK-K

Start your little artists on their art adventure! During spring break and during the summer, our youngest campers explore visual art, play, and song as a first step towards interdisciplinary creation. Our camp links creative problem solving with exploratory learning, all directly tied to children's imagination and a desire to create. We think with our hands!

Campers participate in:

  • 2D and 3D art workshops
  • Environmental and creative science projects
  • Nature walks and exploration
  • Free play, singing and quiet "reading" time throughout the day
  • Camp Sessions during Spring Break and Summer Sessions
  • Weekly Camp Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (you may choose to pick up earlier)
  • Before and After Care Available
  • $335 per week

Art Adventures, Grades 1-5

grades-1-5-tabEach week, Art Adventures builds a creative community led by our talented artists/instructors and counselors. Campers explore creativity in 4 art workshops designed to strengthen their creative abilities while developing their social, communication and intellectual skills. Campers play games, make friends, sing camp songs and build fantastic relationships with our amazing staff. We aim to inspire kids, build self-esteem, and allow for creative ideas to blossom. We think with our hands!

Campers are grouped by age/grade

  • Exceptional staff and artists
  • All outdoors: Tent Studios dot the 10 acre campus
  • Groups rotate through 2D and 3D art workshops each day
  • Free Choice options end each day
  • Art Walk at the end of each week to show art work and tour tent studios
  • Camp Sessions are weekly, during Spring Break and Summer Sessions
  • Weekly Camp Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
  • Before and After Care Available
  • $335 per week

In Service Days of Art
Join us for a day of creating while your school has an in-service day. We offer young artists in grades 1-5 an exciting day of innovative and creative workshops that engage kids in unique projects, inspiring the imagination and fostering the future artist. Games, free choice time and snacks round out a great day of making on campus in our studios. Tell a friend! Students must bring 2 snacks and a sack lunch. Before and After Care is available.

YA! Spring Break and Summer Camps Grades 6-8

Art Adventures YA! (Young Adult) Day Camp hosts students in grades 6-8 to OCAC's professional arts studios under the guidance of working artists and arts educators. Each week-long session is comprised of two in-depth art workshops. This fun, creative and intensive exploration of two different studio techniques provides the developing teen boundless opportunity for self-expression and personal exploration. The needs of middle school students are unique and we are good at finding a creative balance with this age group!

  • Students choose their session based on art mediums listed online
  • Workshops happen indoors, throughout the college art studios
  • Small groups rotate through 2 art workshops each day

Pre-College Workshops for High School Artists

high-school-tabOur high school weekly workshops for students in grades 9-12 are designed to provide an in-depth study and exploration of art and craft with a fine art methodology. The PRE-COLLEGE instructors are professional artists and designers who support students in their explorations of new art techniques. PRE-COLLEGE workshops and classes can also help you develop a studio practice, prepare a portfolio for college admission, and broaden your understanding of art's role in contemporary culture while experimenting, creating, and taking safe, creative risks. Come find your creative voice at OCAC!

  • Workshops occur Mon-Fri 10am-4pm
  • Optional morning Open Studio Time from 9am-10am
  • Pre-college artists explore immersive art and design workshops to build portfolios and gain college-like experience.
  • High school artists leave with an array of work and a sense of their own style.
  • Spring Break and Summer Workshops are posted in early spring.
  • Typical Cost: $385 per workshop (unless otherwise listed)

Family Workshops: Grades PreK-5 + Adults

Come create and explore craft together! Holiday workshops are a great time to create gifts to give away, as well as decorations for your own room or house! Our Family Workshops are designed for the artist in everyone. Spend some special time together and see what unfolds! These workshops are recommended for adults and kids ages 5 and up. Fee is for each workshop participant. Adult must attend with child.

BE A MAKER and BUILD COMMUNITY!

At OCAC, we have been offering engaging, dynamic and inspiring continuing education for adults through Studio School since the origins of the school in 1907. Taught by professional working artists as mentors and guides, we encourage exploration, risk-taking and discovery in our Maker Spaces on campus.

Throughout the year, OCAC's Studio School offers evening and weekend workshops and classes for the community. Each semester, we publish a new catalog of exciting, relevant and innovative workshops in: Wood, Ceramics, Photography, Cross Media, Drawing/Painting, Fibers+ Textiles, Book + Print, Professional Studio Practices, Digital Fabrication, Metals, and Mixed Media.

At Studio School, we offer smaller enrolled classes and workshops for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students. Because our instructors meet you where you are in skill level, many of our classes and workshops are designed for ALL levels.
