The third annual Bing in the New Year celebration, presented by 1847 Food Park, will take place from 6-9 p.m. Dec. 31, 2025, in downtown Milwaukie, Oregon, birthplace of the Bing cherry. This free, family-friendly outdoor event includes live music, cultural performances, food, drinks and vendors. The evening culminates with the lowering, by crane, of a 7-foot lighting Bing cherry at 9 p.m. (a family-friendly “East Coast midnight.”) The event is hosted by the Milwaukie Arts Committee and the Oregon Chinese Coalition. It honors Ah Bing, the Chinese orchard foreman who first grew this new cherry varietal in Milwaukie in the late 1800s. The event is held under tents at the public lot at the corner of Main and Harrison streets (home to the Milwaukie Farmers Market.) For more information, visit binginthenewyear.com .
