Bing in the New Year
December 31 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeThe Milwaukie Arts Committee, in partnership with the Oregon Chinese Coalition, presents the second annual Bing in the New Year celebration, a free, family-friendly New Year’s Eve event with live music, Chinese cultural performances, vendors, a beer and mead garden, and an “East Coast Midnight” lowering of a 7-foot-tall, lighted Bing cherry sculpture, by crane, at 9 p.m. at the public lot at Harrison & Main in Milwaukie (site of the Milwaukie Farmers Market.)
Bing in the New Year celebrates Ah Bing, the Chinese horticulturist who, while working at Seth Lewelling’s orchards in Milwaukie in the 1880s, first cultivated the Bing cherry.
