Join us for an inspiring and intimate in-studio performance at Steps PDX, where our students step into the role of choreographers, bringing their artistic visions to life. This showcase is the culmination of 12 weeks of intensive exploration and creation in our Composition Class, where dancers dive deep into the choreographic process.
Throughout the class, students explore the elements of dance composition through guided improvisation, movement studies, and collaborative feedback. They take on the challenge of choreographing by selecting music, casting dancers, scheduling and leading rehearsals, designing costumes, and making lighting choices. This process encourages them to refine their artistic voices and develop leadership skills essential to dance-making.
As an audience member, you’ll experience a diverse range of original works, each reflecting the unique perspective and creativity of our student choreographers. You’ll also gain insight into the choreographic process through a post-performance Q&A session, where the students will share their inspirations, challenges, and artistic choices.
We invite you to be part of this special evening, celebrating the next generation of dance makers in an up-close and personal setting!
