From our friends at Saturday Academy:
Explore the edge of physics with towers and robots all day in LEGO Camp!
Camp runs from July 5-8, from 8:30 am-3:30 pm, for students in grades 4-5, on the University of Portland campus. In the morning, apply physics principles to solve real-world problems. Investigate structural designs and employ gears, cams and pendulums to explore kinetic and stored energy. Build towers, ping-pong launchers and much more. In the afternoon, learn the mechanical principles of robotics as you design, build and program a puppy, musical instruments or robotic arm. Use LEGO Mindstorms EV3 software to program your robot to use touch, light/color and ultrasonic sensors to solve everyday challenges.
Saturday Academy offers a wide variety of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) classes and camps throughout the summer and beyond. They are committed to making it possible for all students to participate in classes regardless of financial circumstances. Class tuition is charged on a sliding scale based on annual household income and family size. There is no application. Visit their website to learn more!
