Math in Color: Empowering Girls in Math

“I’m terrible at math!” We’ve all heard this before. Many of us have said it. Don’t let your daughter become one of the many who struggle with math.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make up 47 percent of the total U.S. workforce, but are much less represented in particular science and engineering occupations. Developing an interest in mathematics at an early age will give girls the opportunity to land better jobs and help to bridge the gender gap in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Now is the time to break the cycle and Math in Color has a solution!

Math In Color offers creative math workshops and camps designed especially for girls. Why? They believe that that a hands-on experience can help girls build confidence, explore ideas, and have fun with math. Their dedicated and passionate staff want to show girls how to appreciate mathematics both inside the classroom and out. Join them for a workshop or camp to make friends, make art, use math and have fun.

Don’t worry if your daughter is behind. Their workshops and camps don’t require memorized facts and high test scores. Ideas are presented creatively to help girls think about problem solving, logic and reasoning. If your daughter is already interested in math, this is a great way to explore ideas that go beyond what is taught in the classroom. No matter what level they’re at, girls will have fun playing in this creative environment.

Saturday Workshops are the perfect chance to preview the mission behind Math In Color. Each 2-hour workshop focuses on a different topic in mathematics and is tailored to specific grade levels. Instructors will discuss each topic and lead an activity or craft that will bring each idea to life. It’s a great way for girls to see how fun math can be!
