Now that the Halloween trick-or-treating is done what does your family do with all that extra sugar? Eat it all in one sitting? Trade it in for candy or toys? Ration out over the next year? Get a visit from the Switch Witch, Pumpkin Fairy, or some other fictitious character who steals the candy away from your children?
Well for those who find themselves with a few extra pounds (of candy), here are a few local area businesses who will take it off your hands.
Aspire Dental (updated)

Trick-or-treaters can bring in their candy to Aspire Dental and receive $1 per pound of candy. This exciting event is open to all children and their parents in the Portland area. We will be giving away dollars and prize bags, in exchange for cavity-provoking candy. In addition kids have the chance to win one of three prize packages for their schools.
Gentech Dental – not up yet

November 1-3, Wednesday-Thursday 7 am – 7 pm, Friday 7 am – 4 pm
Gentech Dentist will buy your unopened Halloween candy for $1 per pound. Maximum of ten pounds per child. Children must be 16 or younger, must be present, and must be accompanied by an adult. Each child will receive a new toothbrush and have a chance to enter a drawing for an iPod Touch. The candy will be sent to Operation Gratitude in Van Nuys, CA. They make individual holiday packages for troops and ship them to soldiers stationed overseas.
Greenburg Pediatric Dentistry – not up yet

Candy will be bought back at $1 a pound. All candy is mailed to overseas US troops, through Operation Gratitude. Feel free to include a drawing or letter from your child for our troops!
Hollywood Children’s Dentistry

November 1 and 2, 8am – 4pm
Kids are encouraged and invited to sell Hollywood Children’s Dentistry their Halloween candy! Children will receive $1 for each pound of candy. As a reminder, kids must be accompanied by an adult.
Little Smiles Pediatric Dentistry – not up yet

They will pay $1.00 per pound up to 5 pounds. All of the candy will be donated to the troops.

Kids can stop by to exchange their candy for prizes. The candy will be donated to troops overseas.
