After School Programs With Space

From music and arts classes to outdoor enrichment programs, the Portland area offers a wealth of after-school opportunities. The following programs are accepting new students for the fall of 2021.

TimberNook Northwest Oregon

Join TimberNook for a weekly fall enrichment experience that will inspire creativity, wonder, and imagination through play-based curriculum. TimberNook experiences are designed to help your child become more creative, confident, coordinated, & independent. This is a wonderful program for home/alternative schooling that allows children the time & space to explore, learn, socialize, AND have fun!

Join us for 8-weeks of outdoor play, Every FRIDAY, October 15th – December 10th.

PDX Education Collab

PDX Education Collab provides an afterschool experience centered around outdoor education in an urban setting. Staff receive students from school and travel to a nearby greenspace where they facilitate student lead exploration of naturalist, survival, and science activities. Students can slackline and play field games while the weather holds until herbal salve brewing and bladeless woodworking can be done, cozy, under shelter from the rain.

Lovegood Performing Arts Company

Lovegood Performing Arts Company is located in Beaverton/SW Portland and has a variety of acting, dance, voice, improv, and technical theater classes for students ages 8-22. For our 8 & 9 year old students we have a special Beauty and the Beast themed musical theater class created just for their age.

Polaris Dance Theatre

Polaris Dance Theatre offers classes for every body, aged 3 – 103! Located in the heart of NW Portland, their dance classes range in styles including Contemporary, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, Aerial, Trampoline, and more! Their Fall Session runs until December 19, 2021 and culminates with student performances. Come explore dance with Polaris Dance Theatre In-Person this Fall!

Art World School

Established 1997, Art World School is a professional skill based art school with Fine Art, Clay, and Arts & Craft classes. Art World School has an After School Program with a combination of different classes, Weekday/evening/weekend Fine Art and Clay classes, No School Day camps, and seasonal camps with flexible scheduling. New students are welcome to take a trial class first. Group or one-on-one classes are available and can be taken online or in person.

Rock Dojo

Rock Dojo is an award-winning online guitar program for kids. They don’t just teach kids about the guitar; they teach kids how to rock out on the guitar! They help build momentum through our martial arts-inspired belt system.  They offer a variety of online guitar classes including live online private lessons, live online group lessons, and on-demand courses.

All you need is an internet connection, and kids will become rock ninjas in no time!

After school Kids’ Art Classes from OSA:Oregon Society of Artist
Drawing, Painting and Creative Experiments on Tuesdays through December 14, 4p – 5:30p | $20 per session, supplies included.
Be your own Superhero: Sculpture Exploration on Thursdays, October 14 through December 2, 4p -5:30p | $190 for the series.
Scholarships are available.

Teens Mon 6;30; Adults Wed 6:00.
Age appropriate Yamaha courses taught in groups of 2-6 in safe and socially distanced classroom. Family discount for two or more students. Portland Music School offers music lessons for the whole family.
