The Yeates Academy of Irish Dance was first established in Portland, Oregon in 1985. Directors and owners, Sinéad Yeates (TCRG) and Breda Yeates, together with instructors Meaghan Feeback (TCRG) and Meghan Bjerke (TCRG), bring a wealth of experience in Irish dance and performances. The school is recognized for maintaining the highest standards in Irish dance. In 2021 Sinéad Yeates was one of only 20 recipients internationally awarded “Excellence in Teaching Irish Dance” from Irish Dancing Magazine.
Yeates Academy is pleased to offer Irish weekly dance classes to students ranging in age from 5 through adult. Class levels start at beginner and continue up to champion levels for our competitive dancers. We offer classes in Portland, Lake Oswego, Salem and Vancouver.
Irish dance is more than just a movement form. It’s about continuing a cultural legacy through dance, building community and challenging individuals to be their very best.
In addition to weekly classes, we also offer summer camps for students new to Irish dance who want to check it out. Our Jigs for Kids™ summer camps will be offered twice in July 2022. (M-F, July 11-15 & July 25-29, 9:30am -12:30pm for both sessions) Registration opens March 1. Check out our website for details. Jigs for Kids™ is an amazing opportunity for kids ages 5-12 to explore the world of Irish dance and culture. All classes will be taught by studio owner and director, Sinéad Yeates.
