PDX Parent, Portland’s indispensable local parenting magazine, website, newsletter, social media and events calendar, is seeking a part-time Sales Representative to join our sales team!

If you enjoy meeting new people and learning about different types of businesses, creating marketing campaigns, challenging yourself to make just one more call, and like working with a team of supportive colleagues, this may be the position for you!

We are hiring for our Eastside/Vancouver sales position. Familiarity with this geographic area is a plus and sales advantage. The person who fills this position will inherit an established account list as well as the opportunity to grow the list – and their income. This position pays a base + commission.

Responsibilities:

  • Understands the Portland parenting community and the types of businesses that support it.
  • Has experience in and enjoys the sales process. Bonus points for media sales experience.
  • Is highly-organized, self-motivated and independent; able to succeed in a home office environment.
  • Is friendly and engaging, in-person, on the phone and via email. Also is a good listener and able to understand a business owner’s marketing needs and match them effectively to PDX Parent products and opportunities. Comfortable with cold calls, both by phone and in person.
  • Has excellent communication and writing skills; strives for well-crafted, properly punctuated emails.
  • Is dedicated to excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Availability during business/school hours.
  • Ability to manage their time effectively during busy months, such as summer camp season
  • At least one year experience in a position that required excellent customer service (extra points for media experience) with demonstrated virtual communication and problem solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Mac environment, Google apps, and MS office.
  • CMS software experience, preferably Magazine Manager.
  • Curiosity and a desire to learn and excel.
  • Sales experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Current driver’s license and proof of insurance.
