Kidical Mass: Halloween Family Bike Ride to “Thrill the World” Dance Show

Oct 25 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Ride bikes with Kidical Mass PDX to watch the “Thrill the World” zombie dance flashmob.

Meet at Grant Park playground at NE 33rd Ave & NE Brazee St at 2:00pm, and at 2:15pm we’ll ride on neighborhood greenways and side streets in Irvington past houses decorated for halloween. Kids and adults are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, or decorate bikes!

The 19th Annual Thrill the World Portland at Irving Park is part of a worldwide, simultaneous Thriller dance (sung by Michael Jackson). It’s the 19th year of dancing, making Portland’s zombie squad the longest-running Thrill the World event in the solar system!

The bike ride to watch the dance is 2 miles each way and a flat 4 mile loop, with the stop in the middle for the dance performance, so its suitable for most young bike riders who can pedal a bike without training wheels. We leave at 2:15pm sharp so we can make it to the performance on time.

We ride slow for little pedalers. Kids should wear a helmet, be able to ride in a straight line, start and stop. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for kids who haven’t learned to pedal or get tired soon. We’ll ride together as a group, rain or shine, because kids are traffic too!

Come ride with us!
