Ladybug Nature Walk – Squirrels and Acorns at Irving Park

Sep 26 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Visit our website for more information and to sign up.

Ladybug Nature Walks are SLOW nature hikes for young children (ages 2-6) and their grown-ups. Children explore plants, animals, and rocks while practicing social and motor skills. During a walk, each child borrows a backpack full of tools for exploring. Nature Educators guide children in small groups through a series of “Nature Play” activities. Classic activities include observing plants, digging for worms, catching bugs, investigating natural items with magnifying glasses, collecting leaves, and painting with water. We provide supplies and structure, but each child is encouraged to be creative in their play and exploration.

ABOUT THIS WALK:

You know that Autumn is here when squirrels start collecting acorns to eat later in the winter. During this walk, we will play under some large red oak trees and pretend to be squirrels. We might gather up acorns to hide, bury, and play with. The walk will end with a story about oak trees and squirrels.
