Hall & Oakes is veteran Portland-based children’s musician David Hall with his daughter Karenna Hall on electric bass and Charlie Oakes on trap drum set, bringing world-premiering family band fun to “Saturday Mornin’s Music!,” Beaverton’s only monthly concert series for children. Described as “Woody Guthrie meets Mr. Rogers,” Hall writes up-tempo, silly, and poignant songs about family life, parenting, children’s self-esteem and identity, and lots of animals! His two albums, Bee Positive and Be Yourself, were written for and about Karenna when she was a toddler, and now the music has come full circle with the addition of Hall & Oakes to the rhythm section!
Every third Saturday from September to June, the Portland FolkMusic Society (PFS) presents a different local children’s musician to entertain families with their songs, music, and interactive singing and movement. Although geared toward families with children from birth to age 8, all ages are welcome! Hope to see ya’ at Saturday Mornin’s Music!
