Come join the fun on the second Sunday of every month for our Secret Stitch Society, led by the talented Heather of Wildflowers Handwork! From February to April, we’ll be weaving together new skills and forming lasting friendships.

At our first meeting of the Secret Stitch Society children can choose to make either a heart ornament or a pocket pillow using the most fundamental of all stitches, the running stitch! While we will be making a project, our focus will be on learning and practicing the stitches. We will first practice on fabric that will help us make even stitches, and then will move to our project! We will do this all while enjoying getting to know each other while we stitch. Children who attend all the workshops will have both the monthly project and a sampler bookmark from learning each stitch.

Shhhhhhhh! We’re forming a secret stitching society where we will be learning a variety of embroidery stitches, which is a life-long gift for children. Knowing stitches can open the window to so many things – creating a craft, mending any fabric, embellishing fabric items. In this series of workshops, the children will learn a new embroidery stitch at every session and continue practicing the ones they learned previously through creating a seasonal decoration. Children can attend all the workshops and build a repertoire of stitches or children can attend just one and learn the stitch being worked on in that session. It’s a secret society because at this age children are really in the process of developing their individuality/creating themselves as separate from their parents. Heather, has training in child development, and will create just the right held space for them to create both their projects, but also their emerging selves! Stitching and chatting are a perfect combination!
