This sensory friendly music group will feature dimmed lights, acoustic instruments, and plenty of opportunities for movement and tactile exploration. Although each group will vary slightly based on the needs of those in attendance, you can expect a greeting song, finger play/fine motor songs, movement/gross motor songs, egg shakers, scarves, and a goodbye/transition song. We might explore other instruments—in addition to guitar Emilie plays flute, ukulele, and accordion—or we might read a musical book. This group is geared to kids ages 0-5 but all ages and abilities are welcome!
Teacher Bio- Emilie Wright spent the last decade working as music therapist with a focus on being person-centered, neurodivergent affirming, and fostering a sense of confidence and joy. After the birth of her son in 2020 she chose to let her certification lapse in order to focus on being in mom mode.
When her son turned 2 in 2022 she started hosting early childhood music groups in her front yard, and last year she volunteered to provide music groups for his preschool. Emilie LOVES making music with little ones, and is constantly amazed by their creativity, humor, and innate musicality. Emilie believes that music is all about the process and it doesn’t need to be perfect as long as you’re having fun! She can’t wait to see what kind of magical musical mayhem we create together.
