Celebrating mechanical history in motion, The Great Oregon Steam-Up recently won “Best Annual Event” in the “Best of the Willamette Valley” awards. It’s a unique family-friendly event where there is something for everyone to do.
Kid-friendly activities include train rides on a 1:8 scale railroad, full-scale trolley rides, a youth passport experience, and kids pedal tractor pulling. A kid favorite is the parade of old steam engines, tractors, fire engines, and other vintage vehicles that occurs daily during Steam-Up.
Come see the unique museums, all open during Steam-Up! Highlights include the oldest unrestored school bus in the United States, the first electrical generator installed on Mt. Hood to power the ski lift before electric utility service was available, and the oldest known diesel tractor in the world! And, open for the first time at Steam-Up, phase one of the Willamette Valley Model Railroad Museum! Every museum has something exceptional and educational to share.
The Great Oregon Steam-Up is the premiere event of Powerland Heritage Park, a 62-acre campus of 14 museums just off I-5 exit 263. This year’s event takes place July 30 & 31 and August 6 & 7.
