We are here for all the fun and events this holiday season in Southwest Washington. It’s a cow, it’s a plain, it’s a ship decked in lights like an aeroplane! Whether by land or sea, there are holiday events both paid and free. Enjoy these special events, and don’t forget the photos.
Highland Holiday Experience
If you like adorable Highland cows — run, don’t walk to Gather and Feast Farm in La Center. This fun, family-friendly experience runs daily from November 29th to January 1st as a local makers market, food, drinks, and treats, holiday lights and cows! Experience your holiday Highland cow photo op this season.
If You Go
Where: 2706 NE 369th St., La Center, WA, 98629

Holidays on Franklin
This Franklin home (or manor) switches decor seasonally and Christmas is one of the biggest events. Drive by, or park and walk a short flat distance to experience seasonal pop-ups and holiday “snow.”
If You Go
Where: Holiday displays light up after dark at 4614 Franklin St.
When: Check the calendar for special events including “snow” and Santa sightings.
Pro tip: Traffic can get backed up during peak viewing hours near Christmas, so plan a little time in advance. Park nearby to walk along the large property and take pics.
Christmas Ships
A multi-night parade on the Willamette and Columbia rivers — that can be viewed from both Washington and Oregon — Christmas ship viewing begins December 5. Check out the fleet schedule to find your time and spot, pack up the mittens and hot cocoa, and enjoy this lighted water experience.
If You Go
Many restaurants and vendors will require tickets or reservations for viewing. Free sidewalk spots are plentiful, but you’ll want to dress warmly and potentially bring seating. Ships can be viewed from multiple locations on both sides of the water.
Christmas Special Train Ride
Catch views of the Lewis River as you ride along for this special event hosted by Chelatchie Prairie Railroad — and don’t forget to wear your favorite ugly sweater. Arrive at Moulton Station in Yacolt on Saturdays and Sundays through December for one of three diesel rides a day. Santa has a gift for each child, and the station has warm cocoa and cider.
If You Go
Where: 207 N Railroad Ave, Yacolt, WA 98675
When: Each Saturday and Sunday in December
Pro tip: Purchase tickets in advance and arrive 20 min early before departure. Dress warmly or bring a blanket, especially during colder weather.

Whether you prefer pre-cut or chopping down your own, this tree farm has the all holiday greenery you need (wreaths available, too). Make it an adventure with a covered animal viewing area, plus free cocoa, coffee and candy canes. You can also drop your letters to Santa at this official station.
