My 2-year-old is officially in his cars and trucks era. He loves them! We point out trucks and buses when we’re out and about and one of his favorite activities is checking out construction vehicles. So it was a sweet surprise when we visited Rose City Park playground. Next to the play structures is a sand box filled with toy vehicles. My son made a beeline to the sand box and never even ventured to the actual play ground.
And thanks to our amazing followers on Instagram, I’ve learned that there are a handful of playgrounds in the greater Portland area that also have a dedicated area populated with toy trucks and cars. If your kiddo is like mine, these seven playgrounds will be there ultimate favorites!
Rose City Park (Northeast)

The park that started it all! Neighbors and families have donated toy cars, trucks, tractors and more over the years, and the playground’s sandbox has an impressive amount of toy vehicles. Every time we’ve visited, there are kiddos of all ages digging and playing.
The playground features climbing structures like ladders and a net, plus slides and balance equipment. And there’s also a bathroom here!
Address: NE 62nd Avenue and Tillamook Street
Wilshire Park (Northeast)

Also in Northeast, Wilshire Park playground also boasts a cool collection for toy trucks for kiddos. The playground is accessible, there’s a bathroom on site, and for the four-legged members of the family, an off-leash dog park.
Address: 4116 NE 33rd Ave.
Arbor Lodge Park (North)

Harper’s Playground, the The folks behind this awesome playground at Arbor Lodge made sure that little truck lovers of all abilities could vroom vroom vroom in an on-site sand area. Fun fact: this playground is the one that started it all to make sure all children can explore and play.
Address: N Delaware Ave and N Bryant St.
George Rogers Park (Lake Oswego)
Not only does this Lake Oswego playground have a sandbox filled with car toys and trucks, there’s also a toy excavator that kids can move, scoop and dump sand. It’s definitely a favorite feature at the playground.
In addition to the playground, Lake Oswego’s oldest park, also has soccer fields, pickleball courts, picnic areas, riverfront access and walking trails.
Address: 611 S. State Street, Lake Oswego
West Waluga Park (Lake Oswego)

One of our Instagram followers directed to this other Lake O park: West Waluga. It has a small sandbox area filled with toy vehicles for kids. Pro tip: This same follower mentioned that on sunny, hot days, the shady East Waluga Park can’t be beat — and there’s a trail where you can walk between the two parks!
Address: 15775 Waluga Drive, Lake Oswego
Tamarack Park (Hillsboro)
This cute neighborhood park has lots of amenities for families: a fenced playground — with toy cars and trucks! — a small skateboarding bowl, a bocce court, picnic shelter and a fire pit.
Address: 7250 SE Tamarack St., Hillsboro
Woodhaven Park (Sherwood)

This quaint park is known to locals as “dump truck park.” The park has a large sand box, complete with sun shades in the sunny months, filled with toys trucks of all sizes, plus toy excavators. It is a gem for kids who love vehicles, and digging in the sand!
