Here at PDX Parent, we hope this St. Patrick’s Day is your luckiest yet. Here are 5 ways to celebrate this year!

Party at the Parade. See the 33rd Annual Portland St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 13. Head to Beverly Cleary School at 1p on Sunday to enjoy the free fun! Don’t forget clocks spring forward an hour. We’d hate for you to miss the parade!

Put on your running shoes. The Portland Shamrock Run is also happening on Sunday the 13th, with a kids-only Leprechaun Lap fun run in addition to the main event.

Get poetic. Get a free treat when you drop off a St. Patrick’s Day limerick or haiku at Sellwood Community House by March 17. You may also email submissions. There will be a random drawing for a giveaway on the 18th. (This link takes you to their Instagram post; swipe to see the St. Patrick’s Day poetry contest image.)

Avoid the crowds. Not ready to gather yet? The All Ireland Cultural Society is holding a completely free virtual celebration this year on their website. Click over on March 17 for a variety of performances by local Irish dancers, singers and musicians.

Get crafty. Head to one of our local Arts & Crafts Studios to make something green!
