PDX Parent is Portland’s go-to local parenting magazine, website, newsletter, and events calendar. PDX Parent is expanding its portfolio with the upcoming launch of West Coast Parent, a regional family travel and lifestyle publication. We are looking for a part-time Account Executive to join our growing team! If you enjoy building relationships with business owners, get a genuine kick out of making one more call and landing the yes, and want to be rewarded when you exceed your goals, this may be the position for you! We offer a base plus commission structure with performance-based bonuses for reps who consistently go above and beyond. Our team is small, supportive, and fully remote. We trust you to manage your time, and we respect that work isn’t the only thing on your plate. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape a sales territory, build lasting client relationships, and grow your income across multiple publications and product lines. What you’ll be doing:

  • Prospecting, pitching, and closing advertising and sponsorship partnerships with local and regional businesses
  • Building and managing a client book while continuously developing new business
  • Creating compelling marketing proposals matched to client needs and publication opportunities
  • Making the extra call, sending the follow-up email, and seeing deals through to signed contracts

The ideal candidate:

  • Genuinely enjoys the thrill of the sales process.
  • Has experience in media, publishing, or marketing sales (a strong plus, not a requirement)
  • Is highly-organized, self-motivated and independent; able to succeed in a home office environment.
  • Is friendly and engaging in person, on the phone, and via email, and knows how to listen before pitching marketing proposals to business owners.
  • Is dedicated to excellent customer service.
  • Values their co-workers. We’re a supportive, professional group of adults who are conscious of the fact that we all have a role to play to make our publications the best they can be for our readers, clients and each other.

Requirements include:

  • Availability during business hours
  • At least one year of experience in a sales, customer service, or client-facing role, with demonstrated follow-through and problem solving
  • Exceptional written, verbal and in-person communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Comfortable with cold outreach, both by phone and in person
  • Proficiency in Mac environment, Google Workspace, and MS Office. CMS or ad management software experience (Magazine Manager preferred) is a plus.
  • Current driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Curiosity, coachability, and a genuine desire to grow with us!
