This April we’re celebrating our local arts scene! We talk to local artists who are parents about how parenting influences their work and more. And we list galleries and museums where the whole family can be inspired and amazed by visual arts. We also spotlight kid-friendly spring shows from fabulous, local performing arts companies. Plus don’t miss our investigative feature on the changes in the works at Portland Public neighborhood schools. And our Getaway column details the big renovation at Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound.

We’ve moved our popular, family-friendly dining guide to our May issue. And since we know families love to head outside as the days get sunnier, this year’s dining guide will focus on family-friendly spots with patios. We’ll also help parents celebrate their kids’ birthdays with a story on kids’ party venues and performers great for specific age groups. And our Getaway column focuses on a trip to Wings and Waves and other family-friendly fun in McMinnville.

When the kids are out of school, we help parents maximize their summer fun with our June/July issue! In our annual Big Summer Calendar, we list at least one fun activity for every day of June, July and August. And we highlight free fun! (Readers have told us this calendar is “genius” and that they refer to it all three months of summer!) Plus we’ll plot all of Portland’s best family-friendly summer fairs, festivals and outdoor concerts on a colorful map. And we’ll be sure to include plenty of free events as well. June/July is our most fun issue of the year and it flies off the shelves!
