Hillsboro Public Library staff are excited to host a vibrant and culturally rich celebration of Día de los niños (Children’s Day) on Saturday, April 26, from 12 to 4 pm.

The afternoon of family-friendly activities, entertainment, and learning opportunities will take place at both the Shute Park Library and the Hillsboro Community Senior Center.

The celebration is free and open to all community members.

Tradition Continues

Día de los niños is a traditional Mexican holiday that celebrates children and their importance in communities. It emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Hillsboro Public Library’s event will honor this tradition by offering a variety of activities for children that highlight the richness of our community.

Family Activities

Families are encouraged to come and join in the festivities, celebrate the diversity of our community, and support the importance of literacy and cultural understanding for all children.
Activities will include:

  • storytelling sessions: featuring bilingual stories
  • puppet shows
  • interactive activities
  • crafts
  • games
  • music

In addition, Hillsboro Parks & Recreation will be there with a fun Arbor Day activity.

The celebration will also expand into the Hillsboro Community Senior Center with special performances.
