Join The Band at Youth Music Project

From our friends at the Youth Music Project:

As Clackamas County’s only nonprofit music school, Youth Music Project fosters a lifelong love of music in children and gives them a safe place to feel like they belong. Their instructors aren’t simply teaching students a hobby, they are setting them up for success in all other aspects of their lives. At Youth Music Project, it’s not about being the best, it’s about doing your best.

Make music with them on Saturday, March 2 from 2-5 p.m. at their FREE spring open house!

Research shows that everyday listening skills are stronger in musically-trained children than in those without music training, students in high-quality music education programs score higher on standardized tests compared to students with deficient music education, and children who study a musical instrument are more likely to excel in all of their studies, work better in teams, have enhanced critical thinking skills, stay in school, and pursue further education. Laura Arthur of the Oregon Music Education Association stated in a recent interview, “learning about the arts and learning about music is what makes us human; it touches us emotionally in ways that can’t be experienced through any other avenue.” Youth Music Project focuses on equipping students with life skills beyond just playing songs: patience, self-reliance, cause and effect, problem-solving, time management, and confidence are all instrumental in a child’s development.

Their goals are to ensure that youth have a lifelong appreciation of and engagement with music, develop a greater confidence and a positive sense of identity, engage in and develop a sense of belonging in a community, and cultivate a growth mindset and perseverance. They believe children’s lives are positively transformed through the power of music, so they work to make this possible for every child regardless of their socioeconomic status. Students who qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program, or are currently placed in foster care, are eligible for tuition-free enrollment.

Every child deserves access to inspiring, engaging, and encouraging music education. Whether your preschooler wants to play the fiddle, your tween wants to join a rock band, or your teenager is ready for their first internship, Youth Music Project is here for them every step of the way. So ditch the strip mall music lessons, and join the band at Youth Music Project

Make music with them for FREE during their open house, Saturday, March 2, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sample group classes, test drive instruments, meet instructors, buy used gear, and more. Experience what makes Youth Music Project rock, and once you’ve found your sound get registered!
