When my first child started kindergarten, I had a simple question that I couldn’t easily find the answer to: What time does school start? At that time, schools across the Portland Public Schools (PPS) district all had different start times and the info wasn’t easily found on the district’s website. Since then, PPS has synced the start and dismissal times for all the elementary schools, K-8s, and middle and high schools, making life a little easier for parents. And according to the PPS communications department, doors typically open to students 7 to 10 minutes before the start times listed below.
Elementary Schools: 8 am-2:30 pm.
K-8 Schools: 8:45 am. Elementary students are dismissed at 3:15 pm and middle schoolers at 3:30 pm.
Middle Schools: 9:15 am-4 pm.
High Schools: 8:30 am-3:34 pm.
