Our Favorite U-Cut Tree Farms

Here at PDX Parent, we love a Christmas tree adventure! Make magical memories at some of the local u-cut tree farms that surround the Portland-metro area.  Many farms also offer food and drink, and a chance to see animals or meet Santa. Some require ticketed entry, so check the farm websites before you go.

PDX Parent‘s Web Editor visits this local farm every year and loves how picturesque and dog-friendly the experience is. Enjoy acres of trees, wagon rides, hot drinks, spectacular views, great spots for photo ops, a festive atmosphere and more. Tickets are required for entry, and one ticket admits one vehicle. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there on weekends for conversation and photos. Tree shaking and baling is free, and dogs are allowed on leash, but not on the wagon. Book tickets early (free weekdays, $10.95/car weekends and November 29), as popular days quickly sell out!

Frog Pond Christmas Tree Farm

Frog Pond Farm is one of the few places in Portland you’ll find Santa and a camel or two! The farm will have pre-cut trees, garlands and wreaths, and their holiday market will be open. Visit the camel, llamas, goats, donkeys, and more of the 80+ animals on the farm. On weekends they have a bonfire and coffee shop, and Santa will make an appearance on select days. Leashed pets welcome!

Furrow Farm

Did someone say free tractor rides? Fresh cut and u-cut trees available, including Noble, Nordmann, Grand, and Douglas Fir, free tree baling, and other items for sale such as mistletoe, wreaths, garland and more. The free tractor rides happen on weekends, and there are farm animals to view. Saws and twine provided. Dogs on leash welcome! If your dog marks a Christmas tree, then it’s yours to purchase, so keep a close eye.
When: Typically opens the Friday after Thanksgiving.

It’s always snowing at Helvetia Christmas Tree Farm, with artificial snow dropping every five minutes. Offering u-cut and pre-cut trees, wreaths, tractor-train rides, fire pits with free marshmallows, artificial snow every five minutes, and a gift shop. There are also model trains! Dogs welcome.

Lee Farms doesn’t cut trees in October — they cut them fresh and haul them in daily. This family farm offers an excellent selection of freshly trees. They cut, shake, bale, and load for you. There’s also a farm store with gifts, food and treats.

You can pick out a tree from the store, use one of their saws to cut one down yourself, or have one of the Plumper staff cut it down for you. Hot drinks, their famous pumpkin donuts, and snacks are available for purchase. Don’t forget to buy a s’mores kit and cozy up by the fire pits. The gift store is open, and kids love to see the farm animals. Santa is available for visits on select days, and the farm is dog friendly!

Shop sustanably at Pollard Ranch! Choose one of their 35,000 Christmas trees — you’re sure to find the perfect one. Plus, drink cocoa by the fire, and enjoy the local wildlife. They have a variety of trees, plus wreaths and garlands. They also deliver!

Washougal River Christmas Trees

Washougal River Christmas Trees offers primarily Noble, with a pre-cut in most species, plus wreaths and table-top trees, too. Any tree is $59.95, and any wreath $22.95 (cash and checks preferred). Enjoy free cocoa, coffee and candy canes and a large covered area with animals, including Elvis the mini donkey. Friendly pets are welcome. They are an official “Letters to Santa” collection station. U-cut is available weekends only. Their tree carts make it easy to transport your tree yourself, no heavy lifting required. Cash and checks preferred.

They offer artificial snow, fun photo ops, guest appearances (on select dates; see website) such as Elsa, the Grinch and Santa, a complimentary beverage trailer and famous Ford Red Truck photo op. Plus they offer wreaths, garlands and a well-stocked gift shop.

Trees are priced individually at this Oregon City farm that chooses not to use sprays that could harm wildlife. Expect a few more weeds, and feel good about shopping there. Free weekend pony rides are a customer perk for kids under 100 pounds (at your own risk)! They also offer complimentary hot cider.
When: Soft opening November 23-24, no pony rides. Opens for the season the day after Thanksgiving.

This family-owned tree farm sells Nobles and Nordmanns. Get cozy in the warming hut and sip cocoa and cider while you chat by the fire. You may also explore the Quail Creek trails. Shake and bale, hauling, and loading are included.

This family farm combines a Christmas Festival and tree farm experience. Enjoy free s’mores, hot chocolate, and coffee, and visit the farm animals, go on a tractor wagon ride, or visit Santa. Kids can decorate one free ornament at the crafting station. The cafe and farm store will be open, and leashed dogs are allowed. Santa and Mrs. Claus are available (with the occasional elf substitute, check dates).
When: Drop in choose-and-cut tree sales open November 16, 2024. Festival dates are November 23-24, 29-30, December 1, and 7-8, 2024
