Local mom and creative genius Taimani Emerald illustrated an ABCs poster that should be hanging in every kid’s room — A is for Ally. Each letter of the alphabet represents a talking point: G for gentrification, O for oppression. The words came from discussions Emerald had with other BIPOC moms. In an Instagram post, Emerald says this poster was the hardest illustration she’s ever done, especially trying to come up with images for oppression and colonization that weren’t too scary. But she’s proud of the work. Find prints of the poster at Hoot-N-Annie’s Children’s Boutique or on her website, emeraldcreative.org, in the “Illustrious Shop.”
